Type Fashions - from Patrick Meehan

QUESTION:

Here's a question thats been bugging me, just because I've got a bet going with a few other designers.
What im wondering about is:

Given the role of popular culture and the fashions that roll in and out in social acceptance and personal taste from time to time,
WHAT do you think will be the next style of type design to gain popularity/ or the spotlight with the masses?

p.s. I personally hate thinking fashions help dictate type styles but for the sake of this argument take it into acccount.......

Can you read this?

QUESTION:

Here is an interesting bit of type fun I came across today.
Can you read this?

"Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it dseno't mtaetr in waht oerdr the ltteres in a wrod are, the olny iproamtnt tihng is taht the frsit ans lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can sitll raed it whotuit a pboerlm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe."

This follows the same thought process and idea that I have applied to my typeface 'Blank'. (See in Type Design)

What are your thoughts on this?

1. If you could change the current latin alphabet for the better, what would you do to it?
Does it need changing or updating?

2. What do you think the next evolution of the latin alphabet will be?
What do you think will bring it on?
